Diocesan Youth Events

Calling all youth campers!

Youth will be stomping in cold mountain streams, hiking trails, swimming, exploring the forests, paddling sacred waters and spending nights roasting marshmallows, singing, and laughing around the camp fire! If that interests you, join us the weekend of June 26-28 at Camp Hebron. You will also have a chance to meet a bunch of new friends, grow spiritually, and get closer to God!

Transforming One Community, One Neighborhood and One Life at a Time

From: Diocesan Intern, Kyle Murphy

Transform Jersey Shore Area is an "at home" mission trip dedicated to transforming our local community through the efforts of local people. Led by an ecumenical group of churches, our goal is to show and share the love of Christ by forming relationships with our neighbors in the communities. Volunteers from within and outside our community will be joining in this effort from Aug. 10-15, 2015. Volunteers can serve in whatever capacity they are able, working one or more days or the entire week.

From the Transition Committee

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In a few months, we will welcome our Bishop Elect Audrey Scanlan.

As is customary, she will be presented with gifts during the consecration service.  The diocese has been asked to provide our new bishop with a rochet ($535), chimere ($649) and tippet ($122), bishop cassock-purple ($787), and gold mitre ($668).  We invite laity, clergy and parishes of our diocese to make a contribution toward these gifts.  Other episcopal appointments (ring, crozier and other vestments) are being given by the Bishop Elect's family and colleagues in Connecticut.

These gifts will be presented to Bishop Elect Audrey at the time of her consecration on Sept. 12 at the Harrisburg Hilton.

Please make your check payable to the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and notate "Gifts for Bishop Elect" in the memo line.  Mail your check to the Diocesan Center at P.O. Box 11937, Harrisburg PA  17108-1937.  We look forward to welcoming Bishop Elect Audrey into our diocesan family.

On behalf of the Transition Committee and the Subcommittee for Gifts,

Mary Amato, Chair of Transition Committee
Jan Rose and Anne Yellott, Subcommittee for Gifts

Consecration Choir

As part of the consecration of our new bishop, we are planning for a Diocesan Choir for this event. We would like to invite your choir members to be a part of this special occasion. If possible, please let me know by Wednesday, May 20 how many of your singers will be participating, and the breakdown by voice parts. If you know of non-choir singers in your congregation who might be interested, please talk to them also. A rehearsal of the choir is planned for Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m.-noon at St. Andrew's in the Valley, on Linglestown Road outside Harrisburg. The choir will meet at 8 a.m. on Sept. 12 to get ready for the service. We will of course provide copies of all music to be sung at that service.

We hope as many as possible will be able to join in this celebration. If you have any question, feel free to contact me via email or via phone:
