146th Annual Diocesan Convention
Storytelling was the first way we as humans could store and share information. Becoming engrossed into a good story can stir emotions in us. Sharing stories can provide a teaching moment, make a personal connection or simply be some entertainment.
Bishop Scanlan invites you to bring your stories to share during the October convention.
How does your story connect you to your faith, your parish, your diocese and God?
Take a few minutes and listen to another story of belonging, first memories of church, exile and return…all connecting us as ONE in Jesus in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania.
Dates: Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15
Location: The Spooky Nook Conference Center, Manheim, Pa.
Registration is now open here.
Please note: The Diocese has a block of overnight rooms reserved at the Spooky Nook Hotel. Reservations must be made through the convention registration. Cut-off to reserve overnight rooms is Sept. 20.
Convention registration deadline is Oct. 8.

Got Cursillo?
|
What is Cursillo?
Cursillo is a movement by the Episcopal Church intended to help the faithful understand their own calling to personal vocation and bring the world to Christ. Cursillo helps to renew and deepen Christian commitment and renew a sense of purpose in the participants, all within a supportive environment of the faithful.
Cursillo is patterned after Jesus’ example serving among the people and calling the faithful to carry out the mission of bringing others to a deeper knowledge and relationship with Him Cursillo is largely a lay-driven movement and is conducted in collaboration with, and oversight of, clergy and the diocese.
Cursillo had been previously a part of the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania and now there is interest expressed by some lay members in renewing the Cursillo Movement in this diocese. Currently we are looking to see if there is enough interest to begin exploring the feasibility of renewing the Cursillo movement. If you are interested in learning more about Cursillo, go here.
If you would like to join the discussion about Cursillo, you can email Anna Fleck.

"God’s Dangerous Book" is a history of the Bible
Book Review by The Rev. Canon David Robson, St. Andrew’s, York
It’s a book about how the Bible was put together, where it came from and who decided what went in there in the first place. More, it’s a book about how the Bible has always been a dangerous, incendiary text. The Bible is more than just a piece of literature. It’s a challenge, an inspiration, a wild, unsettling mandate for revolutionary behavior. And that is exactly how people have used it over the years – for good and ill.
