2014 Diocesan Operational Grants

Grants are available for time-limited, specific mission and ministry expenses of  congregations within the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania.

Of particular interest are mission and ministries that:

  • Engage new partners in cooperative efforts (such as other Episcopal parishes, other churches, schools, scouting groups, local businesses, community centers, service organizations, senior centers, nonprofits, municipalities, etc.).

  • Leverage new resources (time, money or expertise) that can be used to help increase your congregation's capacity to be the best it can be.

  • Undertake activities that hold promise to make a lasting, significant impact.

Allocations are based on need and funds available in the diocesan budget.

If you plan to apply for a 2014 Operational Grant, please email Sherri Hartshaw or call 570-322-0126 by August 15, 2013. Read more here

Maintaining Parish Archives

The Diocese of Central Pennsylvania strives to maintain an organized Archive area that is available to researchers within and beyond our diocesan borders.  Bishop Baxter is committed to maintaining our archives in a suitable and safe environment. Questions sometimes arise regarding the maintenance of individual parish archives and the types of records that should comprise the parish archive holdings.

If your parish has any questions about how to set up an archive system, please begin your search at www.episcopalarchives.org Records Management for Congregations:  A Manual for Episcopal Parishes and Missions.  As the website states, the guidelines will help your parish to capture a better archival record through organization and management techniques.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions regarding what records to keep, how to properly store records, and any other archival issues your parish might be facing.  Debbie Robelen, Archivist, 717-236-5959.
