Stevenson School for Ministry Spring Courses

From The Rev. Betsy Ivey, St. Andrew’s, Shippensburg: “The Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston's course on Paul and Congregational Leadership offered in the Fall Term of the SSfM was illuminating and practical to me as a new priest. Duncan's use of Paul's letters to examine and practice the diffusion of different dynamics of congregational anxiety prepared me for real-life ministry. This type of study is not usually offered in seminary, and was enjoyably helpful."

The following continuing education courses are available for parish lay leadership and clergy:

  • Homiletics with The Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston
  • Hebrew Testament with The Rev. Dr. David Zwifka
  • Ethics II with The Rev. Dr. Ellen Wondra, Seabury-Bexley
  • Missiology and the Book of Acts with The Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston
  • The Gospel of John with The Rev. Dr. Duncan Johnston
  • Prayer Book Studies I with Archdeacon Jane Miron, Deacon Wanda Kloza and Dean Robyn Szoke-Coolidge

Registration opens Feb. 4. Contact Dean Robyn Szoke-Coolidge for additional information at (717) 236-5959.

Remember in Your Prayers

The complete diocesan prayer list is available on the website.

As the diocese continues in this season of discernment and transition, we ask that you pray with us:

Lord Jesus Christ, we pray for the life of our diocese in this time of transition. You taught your disciples to work together for your sake, to act with faith, patience, and humility. Give us grace to listen to one another with respect and speak to one another with kindness. Remember our baptismal covenant, let us seek and serve you, Lord Christ, in one another and let us respect each other's dignity. We ask on behalf of the Transition Committee that your presence be felt with open hearts and open minds, trusting in your goodness and mercy, as we walk with the people of the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, our bishop and the candidates in their discernment and transition. In your Holy Name we pray, AMEN.

The Transition Committee asks that March 8, 2015 be designated as a Day of Prayer and Conversation in parishes in preparation for the election of our new bishop.
